Farm House in Cape Cod National Seashore

Square Footage: 2021 sq. ft.
Date Completed: 2011

The owners of this vacation home in the National Seashore approached us because they wanted to incorporate a larger living room/kitchen and master suite, as well as a swimming pool and pool house, to their Victorian-style farmhouse. They asked for a design that was open but maintained the existing 19th century farmhouse feel. In addition, the house had to integrate the indoors and the outdoors in order for the family to enjoy the many activities that they participate in while on vacation.

Our design re-positions the living spaces and the master bedroom towards the rear of the house, which turns the focus of the spaces towards the client’s large backyard. Large windows and French doors not only admit ample daylight, but help to create a connection between the living room and master bedroom to the new pool deck and beyond. Re-shuffling the existing spaces allowed us to create a much better open plan kitchen and living room space, while also providing for a generous dining room.
